This presentation is a "Brief Introduction to Java".

I'll be attempting to cover the main aspects of the language, without going into lots of technical details.

I certainly do not intend to try and teach you Java in half an hour!

I've broken the subject into five main areas:

• The history of the language
• Some common misconceptions about Java
• An outline of what the language provides
• Speculation on the future
• Some pointers to further sources of information.
