In the role of Principal Engineer for this UK Internet Service Provider, responsibilities include all technical aspects of the company strategy; overall authority for the network infrastructure; highest level network architecture and design; capacity planning; equipment selection and technical appraisal of new business opportunities. As the primary driver of network expansion, a massive increase in capacity and geographical scope was engineered, to produce a multi-gigabit national network with tens of thousands of DSL, leased line, IP transit and co-location customers.

Additionally, the role involves working closely with other members of senior management; liaising on technical matters with various teams within the company; performing candidate selection and technical interviewing for roles within the Engineering team; dealing with providers of high-end network equipment and specifying key communications links.

1985 - 1998

WANG Global (Formerly known as BISS, Originally Syntek Ltd.)

Working as a Senior Consultant for this UK based software house, a large number of projects were undertaken to provide bespoke solutions to a wide range of corporate clients, mainly in the telecommunications and commercial sectors. Systems were developed using a large variety of hardware platforms, operating systems, programming languages and development methodologies.

Project Management responsibilities included sizing, costing and bid support; project planning and tracking; client liaison and management reporting; team leadership; requirement and functional specifications; change control and quality control. Technical duties included consultancy; system design specifications; module design and coding; test specifications and system testing.
