Java

The Java language was developed by Sun (who were purchased by Oracle in 2009) and is:

Object-Oriented Reliable Secure Architecture Neutral Type-Safe Buzzword Compliant

Two presentations on Java are available. You may want to look at "A Brief Introduction to Java" first, then move on to "Java Programming in One Hour". Note that these are designed as sets of 'slides' to be shown to an audience. Each page has links to the related slides, forward and backward links and a link to the notes that go with the slide.

It is now unlikely that the example Java applets in the second presentation will work in a Web browser. The technology behind them may have been cutting edge in the 1990's, but it is now obsolete and no longer supported by modern browsers.
